The Blue Sky Forest Wind Farm is a proposal to install up to 13 turbines on former surface mining land, near Morpeth, Northumberland, capable of generating up to 39MW of electricity.
The wind farm would deliver phase one of the Blue Sky Forest initiative – a multimillion pound regeneration project transforming 2,500 acres of former surface mining land into a top leisure, recreational, and tourism complex of regional significance.
The initiative is the bold vision of the Widdrington Regeneration Partnership, a local community partnership aiming to regenerate this part of the region through attracting investment, providing employment, and creating a positive legacy for future generations.
The wind farm would lay foundations for other proposals at Blue Sky Forest through the installation of access roads and essential electricity network connections. As well as helping to reducing overall construction costs, there is potential to speed up delivery of the complete initiative.
