Environmental impact assessment

The Barton Renewable Energy Plant would be fitted with state-of-the-art biomass power generation technology and conform to stringent European emission regulations. Before construction of the plant can commence, planning permission must be granted and an environmental permit must be granted by the Environment Agency.

As part of the planning process, comprehensive environmental studies have been undertaken, the scope of which have been agreed with the relevant statutory bodies. These studies form the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and include:

Landscape and visual impact
Air quality
Noise
Ecology
Traffic and transport
Hydrology, geology and hydrogeology
Socio-economic impact
