Job creation

The proposed wind farm will employ around 20 people during the construction phase. Although some of these construction jobs will be available to local people, the more specialist roles will require the employment of people from outside the area. Specialist contractors are, however, likely to use local services such as guest houses, pubs and shops. It is anticipated that aggregate for the access tracks will be sourced from local quarries, which will further support the local economy.

The proposal is also supportive of the West Cumbria Energy CoastTM initiative. Realisation of the proposed development will demonstrate the area's commitment to renewable energy generation and the Energy Coast initiative, which, together with other renewable energy projects, will increase the chances of securing further investment and more significant and longer-term job creation.
