Corpach

Project timetable

Peel Energy is undertaking consultations with the public, Highland Council, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Transport Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and a range of other organisations.

A planning application that takes on board views expressed during consultation will then be submitted to Highland Council. The local authority will conduct their own consultations, during which time members of the public will have the opportunity to formally comment on the proposals.

A decision will then be taken by the local authority planning committee on whether to grant permission for the Corpach Biomass Energy Plant.

At a later date an application for an environmental permit to operate the plant will also be made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. If both the planning permission and the environmental permit are granted, it is possible that work on the site could begin in early 2012. The construction period would last for two years and the plant could begin to generate renewable electricity in 2014.
