Frodsham Wind Farm Public Inquiry

19 July 2011

The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change (SoS) has recently given notice of the arrangements for a public inquiry to determine Peel Energy’s application for Section 36 Consent to install up to 20 wind turbines on deposit grounds between the M56 motorway and Manchester Ship Canal in Cheshire.

The SoS has advised that a public inquiry will start at 10.00am on Tuesday 22 November 2011 at the Holiday Inn, Runcorn, Wood Lane, Beechwood, WA7 3HA and is scheduled to last for 17 days ending on 23 December 2011. The SoS has provided a list of matters to be considered at the public inquiry which appear to him likely to be relevant to his consideration of the proposed development. A public notice detailing these matters appeared in the Chester Chronicle on 7 July and a copy of the notice can be found via the link below:

Anyone who wishes to participate in the public inquiry should complete a registration form and return it along with two copies of their outline statement (a written statement of the principal submissions they wish to make) no later than 16 August 2011. Hard copies of the form are available upon request from the Department for Energy and Climate Change at Area A, 3rd Floor, DECC, 3 Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2AW addressed F.A.O. Susan Bragoli/Gareth Leigh or are available electronically by emailing: susan.bragoli@decc.gsi.gov.uk and gareth.leigh@decc. gsi.gov.uk

The SoS has appointed an Inspector to hold the public inquiry on his behalf. Following the public inquiry, the Inspector will submit a report with recommendations to the SoS for his consideration before he makes a decision whether to grant, or refuse, Section 36 Consent for the proposed development.

A pre-inquiry meeting has been arranged to start at 13.00pm on Wednesday 14 September 2011 at the same venue as the public inquiry. At the pre-inquiry meeting, the Inspector will indicate the manner and order in which he wishes to hear the evidence to be presented by parties attending, confirm the scope of evidence to be heard, and address other procedural and housekeeping matters. No actual evidence will be heard at this meeting.
