Residents flock to Wind Farm exhibitions

3 December 2009

Hundreds of residents took the time to visit exhibitions on plans for Cheshire's first major Wind Farm.

Peel Energy, which is planning to develop the Wind Farm on a corridor of land running between the M56 and the Manchester Ship Canal, held exhibitions in Frodsham, Elton and Helsby on 25, 27 and 28 November.

Over the three days, around 550 people joined the Peel Energy team to find out more about the important renewable energy scheme.

If approved, the scheme would generate enough electricity to meet the average needs of around 30,000 homes and meet more than a quarter of Cheshire's renewable energy target for 2020.

Peel Energy's Development Manager Stephen Snowdon said: "We had a great response to the exhibitions, with many people keen to find out more about the scheme"

"It was an opportunity for us to share more details on our proposals and also to listen to what local people thought about the scheme

"The vast majority of residents were supportive of renewable energy in principle, but wanted to undersatnd more about topics such as noise and visual impact.

"We were able to talk on a one-to-one basis about their concerns and explain why we believe the canal dredging site is such a good location for a Wind Farm."
