The Port of Sheerness was granted planning Permission on the 18th November 2013 by Swale Borough Council and became operational in late 2016.
Construction of the Port of Sheerness Wind Farm Farm commenced in July 2015 and the site became fully operational on the 1st September 2016.
The scheme is located within the confines of the Port of Sheerness in the area known as ‘Lappel Bank’.
The site comprises 4 x Senvion , MM92, 2.05MW turbines and a Sub Station that connects the output directly into the UKPN distributed network at 33KV.
The Turbines have a hub height of 78.5 and a rotor diameter of 92.5 meters giving an overall tip height of 124.75 meters. The rotors rotate at a speed range of of 7.0 – 15.0 RPM (+12.5%)
The total Installed capacity of the site is 8.2 MW
