Why Port of Heysham?

Recordings to date suggest the site has excellent average wind speeds, making it ideal for commercial wind generation.
The turbines can be connected to the national grid through underground cables without needing additional overhead power lines.
The turbines would be located on a site already developed for industrial use that does not form part of any statutory environmental designation (such as National Park or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
The site allows for sufficient distance between the turbines and residential properties, enabling us to satisfy stringent noise regulations.
Through its adopted Core Strategy, Lancaster City Council has identified the need to maximise the proportion of energy generated in the District from renewable sources. |
