Seaforth Wind Farm
|
The Seaforth onshore wind farm is in the Royal Seaforth Dock, Liverpool, Merseyside. It is built along the dock wall between the shipping lanes and the container port, and is adjacent to Crosby beach.
The development consists of six 600-kW Vestas V44 turbines measuring 50m to the hub and 72m to the blade tip. The 3.6-MW development has provided sustainable energy to the local electricity grid for the last 10 years.
Environmental impact assessment scoping for the project began in September 1994, planning consent was granted in 1997, and the wind farm became fully operational in April 1999.
